Spiritual Evolution

The Three Zones of Evolution

There are three zones involved in the process of opening up our system to the soul. Taken together, these three zones comprise the path of personal evolution. If we fulfill the requirements of these three zones, we will realize our potential. In the first zone on the path of personal evolution, our primary work is to overcome past karma and clear unconscious emotional toxicity from our system. In the second zone, our main work is to stand up for ourselves, integrate our nature, and find our wholeness. In the third zone, our central task is to discover who we really are and fulfill our life purpose. The tasks we need to master in these three zones are sequential in nature, and if we are to succeed in this work, these steps must be taken in their correct order. To approach them out of sequence is to guarantee failure. The three zones of the path of personal evolution in their correct order of sequence are:

1. The Elimination Zone

2. The Integration Zone

3. The Elevation Zone

The Three Ego Levels

Each of these three zones also has a corresponding level of ego associated with it. In the Elimination Zone, we have to contend with the resistant and obstructive nature of the negative ego. The negative ego has no interest in moving forward because its sole interest is in maintaining its control over our entire system.

In the Integration Zone, the negative ego has been transformed and emerges as the healthy ego. The healthy ego seeks to move in harmony with the soul and spirit. Its primary values are growth and freedom rather than control and repression. It is committed to moving forward.

In the Elevation Zone, the healthy ego gives way to the surrendered ego. The surrendered ego has fused with the soul and spirit, becoming their ally and their door to the world. In the third stage of personal evolution, there is no more tension or conflict between the ego and the higher dimensions of our being. A deep peace and clarity settles over the entire nature. The differences in these ego states, as well as their potential transformations, will be discussed in greater detail in later posts.

The Soul and Group Consciousness

soul

The Soul, The Negative Ego, and Group Consciousness

Unlike the negative ego, the soul is not interested in exploiting other people for individual gain. Its agenda is not limited to the desires of the personality. It does not want to shine by shaming someone else. Its true interest lies in uplifting everyone so that we all might benefit. The soul’s strategy is strongly focused on establishing group consciousness. Its game plan is straightforward. If we play together, we win together. If we heal together, we can change the world.

The Soul’s Plan

We cooperate with our soul’s plan when we clear our karma and open the necessary space in our system for the soul to come forward and shine in our life. The soul is the door to unconditional love. Whenever unconditional love is present, everyone feels whole, uplifted, and em- powered, the equal of everyone else in the group. Love is inclusive. Love makes winners of us all. Love changes the world.

The Negative Ego’s Plan

The negative ego’s game plan is quite different. Its strategies are divisive and center on this timeworn theme: If I win, you lose, and if you lose, then I get to feel better, bigger, and more important than you. The negative ego’s game is devoid of unconditional love. It is full of hostil- ity and exploitative maneuvers whose sole intention is to fulfill its desires, often shaming and humiliating other people for its own gains. The negative ego wants to dominate everyone and be at the top of the heap. It mistakenly thinks it can substitute “being on top” for being whole and fulfilled. What the negative ego fails to recognize is that being on top does not automatically make you whole, happy, or fulfilled. What you were before you got to the top of the heap, you will be after you get there. Power, wealth, and notoriety are not the antidote for having an empty core.

The Soul and the Long-term

The soul knows that it has had previous incarnations and may well have future ones. It knows that we come here, time and time again, until we learn the lessons that we must and transform the toxic energies we carry in our body into a clear and vibrant light. The soul’s concern is for the long-term: Will what we do in this lifetime advance our long- term growth or hinder it?

Helping other people helps our growth. Kindness, forgiveness, and a generous spirit count. These qualities accelerate our growth and help us transmute whatever rage, resentment, and hatred we may experience within ourselves or encounter from others. Being stuck in negative emotion separates us from our soul, encumbers our progress, and holds us back.

The Negative Ego and the Short-term

Unlike the soul, the negative ego’s concern is for the short-term, this lifetime. It has a short-term focus because that’s all it thinks it has, one lifetime to get what it craves and then the grave. It wants to get everything it can in almost any way it can. It is ruled by desire and greed. It functions in ignorance of the Law of Consequence and has little, if any, consideration for the long-term repercussions of its actions. If death is the end of everything, thinks the negative ego, then what possible further consequences could there be for what I have done?

Ignorance however, is not a shield and will not protect the negative ego from the long-term consequences of its actions. Sooner or later those consequences will come home to roost. We never outwit or outrun the Law of Consequences.

Unlike the spirit which lives in clarity and peace, the negative ego lives in constant worry. Because it feels separate and alone, fear is never far away. It is the first emotion the negative ego feels when it faces the unknown. The spirit, on the other hand, has a conscious realization of its own eternal continuity. It is centered in the Divine light. The real challenge of life is to find that center.

Soul Resonance

Soul connection

A soul connection cannot occur until, and unless, we are internally quiet and at peace. The constant chatter and internal dialogue that occurs in the minds of most people, most of the time, prevents a deep soul connection from taking place, but once we are centered and at peace, the gateway is opened and the ground prepared for a meaningful soul connection to occur. As our soul connection slowly develops, we are drawn to engage in activities that resonate with our soul.

Accelerating Personal Growth

The presence of soul connection and resonance in our lives indicates a high probability of success and fulfillment in our endeavors. A strong soul connection quickens the pace of our inner growth and personal evolution. While we need to find our way in the world we live in, we must also find our way within ourselves. To succeed in both tasks is rare, but need not be. Balance is the key to the future. Until we develop a strong soul connection, material success is attainable, but true fulfillment is always over the next hill. We have been educated to achieve and succeed. We must also learn to be clear, centered, and at peace. We have focused on training and developing our intellect. We now need to develop our intuition and experience a true soul connection.

Resolving Conflict

When we establish our soul connection, the world has more to gain from what we can give it than we have to gain from what the world can give us. The world has an abundance of most things, but it has a great shortage of wisdom, understanding, love, and compassion—all qualities of higher consciousness and a deep soul connection. If more of us developed soul resonance, we would find common ground more easily, and we would overcome conflict with less difficulty.

A change in mass consciousness is never easy, but to keep going in the direction we are now headed in is infinitely worse. It is far better to struggle for an improved future than to suffer a mass calamity because of our collective inertia. It is time that more of us developed our inner pathways and experienced a meaningful soul connection.

The Key to Successful Relationships

Once you have developed your soul connection it is much easier to attract another soul that resonates with you. That is the secret of all successful relationships. If your energies are aligned the relationship will work. if they aren’t, it won’t. You might stay in it but it will not be a source of happiness, support and growth.

Two Small Miracles

Some years ago when I was visiting East Lansing, MI a woman brought her teenage daughter to me. The girl was a special needs student who was also a disciplinary problem. When they arrived the young lady refused to get on my treatment table. No matter what either I or her mother said she adamantly refused to lay down on the table. Instead, we sat cross legged on the floor facing each other. She kept the pillow she had brought with her in her lap, clutching it fiercely with one hand for protection. I went into a meditative state and  let the healing energy flow through my body and energy centers into her. There wasn’t much else I could do. Every once in a while she’d move her free hand in a circle and touch my knee. That’s it. That’s all we did for an hour. Certainly one of the stranger and more frustrating sessions I’ve ever had in a career that has spanned over three decades. After the hour was up, her mother apologized profusely to me, clearly embarrassed by her daughter’s behavior. She said she was sorry she had wasted my time. I told her not to worry, that the results of the treatment would come later.

Two weeks later, she called me. This time, she wasn’t upset or frustrated, but excited and happy. The day after the session, her daughter told her that she no longer wanted to drink coke or eat fast food. Up until that time that’s all she would eat. In those two weeks, her behavior had shifted radically. She wasn’t a disciplinary problem on the school bus or in the classroom anymore. The woman wanted to continue her daughters healing and schedule a long distance session for her. I told her I would be happy to do that for her and suggested that she make the appointment for a time when her daughter would be asleep. It would be easier to do the healing that way. She agreed.

She called at the appointed time. I told her to put the phone next to her daughter and leave the bedroom and close the door. For the next half hour I sent the energy into the young woman’s back, her lungs and her brain. I finished the session by sending energy into her solar plexus. The girl slept through the entire treatment which is what I hoped would happen.

A few days later, her mother took her to see their D.O. The D.O. gave the girl a complete checkup. To her amazement the left ventricle of her brain had opened up and was now functioning normally. That was a totally new development. As far as I know the young lady continued to make rapid progress after those two sessions.

Return of the Stallion

Return of the Stallion

When I was a young man freshly graduated from college I moved to the Monadnock region of New Hampshire. The years I spent there were the happiest of my life. While there, I met Eleanor Moore, the woman who mentored me as an energy healer. She opened a whole new world and life experience  that I was not expecting. I certainly had no intention of being a healer even though I found what Eleanor did fascinating. The first time I met her, Eleanor looked at my palm and told me that I was right behind her and could do what she did. Sure, I thought to myself, fat chance of that. But she was far wiser than me. That’s exactly what happened.

I remained close to Eleanor until he death, twenty years later.  I’ve never seen anyone before or since who could come close to her in ability, unconditional love, and healing power. Eleanor was never into hocus pocus New Age philosophies filled with nonsense and questionable substance that have become so prevalent and neither was I.  She just brought more love, deep insight and power to the table than anyone I have ever met.

Originally, I thought I’d stay in New Hampshire for a year or so and  either go to on law school or to graduate school and get a PhD. It didn’t turn out that way, thank God. I was never meant to live a normal, conventional life. I’mtoo much the pioneer. That’s just my nature.

While in New Hampshire I remember being at someone’s  birthday party, and while I can’t remember whose party it was, I do remember meeting a woman there named Clarissa who told me  a most intriguing story that I will now share with you.

Clarissa raised horses and among them was a young colt who showed exceptional promise as a jumper. That colt was the apple of Clarissa’s eye and a favorite among the other horses as well. Then one day tragedy struck. The colt broke a front leg jumping a fence and had to be put down. Clarissa was heartbroken. It took her a  long time to get over it.

Three years after the young colt’s death she had a strange dream. She dreamt that the colt came to her and told her to go a horse auction in Maryland on a particular Saturday and to look for a malnourished yearling that would be among the horses auctioned off. The colt told her to buy it. In the morning Clarissa checked her horse magazines and sure enough there was a horse auction scheduled to be held in Maryland on the very day the colt had told her in her dream.

Clarissa was excited. How often does a dead horse come to you in a dream? And what did she have to lose anyway? A few days? A trip? Some money? It was an adventure, and by God Clarissa was up for an adventure! So off she went. She got to the auction early and waited as they sold off lot after lot of  promising horses. At this point it wasn’t looking good. By now it was late afternoon and the auction was nearly concluded. Hardly any buyers remained.

Clarissa was starting to feel stupid and foolish. What am I? she thought. A crazy woman who listens to dreams. I’ve been played by my own subconscious. She grimaced and rose to leave. It was just then that the final horse was brought into the ring, a malnourished young colt who moved poorly. Clarissa’s jaw dropped. Her eyes bulged. The horse looked exactly as she had seen it in her dreams. She was the only bidder and bought it for next to nothing.

Lare, while filling out the paperwork the clerk asked her, “Lady, why’d you buy that sorry looking yearling when you could have bought any  number of good lookin’ young horses on the cheap? That horse has no future.”

“Oh, a hunch,” she said. “Just a hunch.”

“Ma’am,” said the clerk, shaking his head. “With all due respect, that’s just nuts.”

Clarissa didn’t answer. She could care less what the man thought. Her only thought was to load the horse in the horse van and get it home.

When they arrived in NH the next day, Clarissa put the colt in the barn with the other horses. The other horses had all been there for many years. When the colt was brought into the barn they began neighing excitedly. In seconds, the barn was in an uproar the likes of which Clarissa had never seen. Later, when she put all the horses out to pasture theycrowded around the scrawnycolt and rubbed noses with it.

With good food and plenty of rich grass the malnourished, undersized colt quickly put on weight and muscle and grew into a beautiful stallion. It went on to be champion jumper and would live a long , happy life.

Sometimes, the wisest thing you can do is follow a hunch. It brought Clarissa’s horse back to her and allowed it to complete the life it should have had before an accident tragically ended it early. People reincarnate. Most of us know that. But animals do too.

Possession: The Astral Intruder

possession

Some years ago an older female client came to my office in Austin. She had driven three hours from a small town in central Texas to see me. At first meeting, she seemed normal enough, polite and low key, but appearances often deceive. This woman harbored a toxic secret she wanted to remain hidden.

After exchanging pleasantries she lay down on the table and I went to work. I always start my sessions by placing one hand under the base of my client’s skull and the other under the base of her spine. As soon as my hands make contact with my client’s spine the healing energy starts flowing. This quickly relaxes the client and allows me to see what’s going on in their energy field, their body and their soul. When I scanned this woman there was something very unusual going on. There seemed to be something living inside her hidden away in the darkest recesses of her soul. She wasn’t pregnant, she was too old for that.  I turned up the energy, making it stronger and more powerful so I could see better and bring this thing, whatever it was, to the surface. The strong energy put the woman in a deep sleep.

Suddenly her body spoke in a masculine voice. “Stop this,” commanded the voice, “or I will kill you.” A long, thin astral entity had risen from it’s hiding place and taken control of her body. The entity, using her hand, tried to grab me. But as it got closer to me the energy burned it and the entity had to pull back.

The entity grimaced, then threatened to kill me again. I told it that it had a choice to make. It could either be transformed and go into the light or I would kill it.

“You can’t kill me,” it screamed, reaching for me once more. Again, it’s hand got burned.  The entity sighed and withdrew it quickly.

“This is your final chance,” I said. “Leave this woman and go into the light or I will have to destroy you.”

“You can’t destroy me. You don’t have the power,” it said contemptuously.

“O.K.,” I said. “You’ve made your choice.” I turned up the power. The entity shuddered a few times before dissolving into a plume of grey smoke that rose out of my clients head and disappeared through the ceiling.

My client awoke in shock a moment later. “What happened?” she asked in a panic. “I feel so empty.”

“You were possessed by an astral entity. It’s gone. It won’t be back.”

“But it was my only friend!” she protested.

“Who told you that?”

“It did. It said it would always be with me. Everyone else always abandoned me.”

“It was never your friend. It played on your weakness to control you. I’m sure the entity chased your other friends away without your knowing it. Now you’ll be able to lead a normal life and have real friends.”

“Do you really think so?”

“I do. Call me in a couple of months and let me know how you’re doing.”

She called a few months later to say she felt much better and had a whole new circle of friends she had met through a cooking class.

Medieval Warrior

energy healing

I held many energy healing seminars and workshops in East Lansing, MI. My Friday night lectures on energy healing were always packed. At the end of every one of these talk I would channel streams of very powerful healing energy to the entire audience. This invariably brought up repressed, toxic emotion in most people there. It was not unusual to see  people sobbing when their buried pain surfaced. In fact, it would be most unusual if it didn’t.

Attending one of these energy healing lectures was a mangement consultant who was blown away by what he felt happening inside him and witnessed around him when I channeled the healing energies. He certainly didn’t think he’d feel anything at all and he wasn’t expecting everyone around him, men as well as women, to be sobbing. He didn’t come to the energy healing workshop the next day but he couldn’t get what he had felt and witnessed out of his head.

Two weeks later, after I had returned to Austin, he called and set up an energy healing phone consultation. Harvey told me he had a sharp, constant pain in his back that he couldn’t get rid of. He had been to MD’s, chiropractors, massage therapists, rolfers and reiki practitioners, all to no avail. He still had the pain. It was as constant and sharp as ever.

“Do you think your energy healing can help me?” he asked.

“I do,” I said.

We set up his energy healing consultation for the next week. When he called, I had him lay down and get comfortable. I told him I was placing one of my hands on the base of his skull and the other on the base of his spine. I asked him to tell me when he felt relaxed. A moment later he told me that he felt the healing energy pouring into him and felt extraordinarily relaxed. He was surprised that the energy healing could be transmitted over the phone, that he would feel it so strongly and that it would affect him so quickly.

I told him that was excellent. It meant his “stuff” should surface easily.

When I put my hands on a client in the beginning of an energy healing session it’s like reading an xray for me. I can usually see what going on in the clients body and what the cause of that clients discomfort is. In Harvey’s case I could see that he had a past life as a soldier in medievel times and died on the battlefield when his upper spine was severed by a strike from a broadsword.

I switched my hands and told Harvey I was putting one hand on his spine bewteen his lungs and my other hand on his chest. When he felt the healing energy flowing into his chest I had him imagine that he was walking down a flight of steps from his head to his chest. When he reached his chest I asked him to feel the blocked energy there and notice how it felt.

Harvey said he felt terrified. I told him to give the feeling of terror a sound and to keep repeating it. Harvey made a sound like AAhh! a few times then started screaming at the top of his lungs. The initial sounds I asked him to make had primed the pump. Now his toxic emotions were pouring out of  their own accord. He was powerless to stop it. It was asif a volcano had exploded inside him. His screams went on for quite awhile. When they were over, the energy shifted from a bright red into a golden light. When the energy shifted, Harvey grew incredibly calm.

We spoke a moment later.

“That was the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced,” he said.

“Can you describe it,” I said.

“I was in a battle and run through with a broad sword. It was hundreds of years ago. How could this be affecting me now?”

“The body dies. The soul doesn’t. If you don’t clear the energy of traumatic experiences from your body in the lifetime in which they occured,  they will be stored in your soul to be worked out in a future life. That’s the law. Few people understand this. That’s why trauma will repeat time and time again, although in a different form, until is cleared. That’s one of the reasons why energy healing is so effective. How do you feel?”

“My clothes are soaking wet, but the pain in my back is gone.”

“It won’t come back. You’ve cleared the trauma that caused it.”

“I hope you’re right. This has gone on for years.”

Harvey called me back a week later.

“I feel great,” he said. “My back has been fine since you worked on it. By the way, something else happened in my energy healing session.”

“What’s that?” I asked.

“I’m an inch taller!”

“That’s great! That’s because the block in your back had compressed your spine. The block is gone so your spine is no longer compressed.  Now you can walk tall, carry a big stick and be a scary dude.”

We had a good laugh over that.

A Surprising Tale of Resistance and Letting Go

energy healing

Michigan State University

On Thursday following the energy healing workshop at Michigan State University I held an evening seminar/talk at an East Lansing church. The med student who had had such a tremendous experience at the energy healing workshop was in attendance. During the Q&A part of the evening she brought up a difficult family situation she was embroiled in.

Her grandmother had recently died and left her house to her. She wanted to sell it to pay for her medical school tuition. Bu there was a big fly in the ointment. Her mother, an alcoholic, was living in the house and refusing to leave. Try as she might, the young woman couldn’t get her mother to budge.

She was at her wits end. What could she do to get mother to move out? If she couldn’t sell the house she would have to drop out of med school. The stakes were high. Her future was on the line. Anxiety and anger were etched on her face and evident in her closed fists.

“Let go,” I said.

“Let go?” she replied incredulously.

“Let go,” I repeated.

“I can’t let go,” she retorted. “My whole future is riding on this. You don’t understand.”

“I understand. Now let go.”

She burst into tears. A few minutes later, she wiped her face and sighed, “O.K. I let go.”

“How do you feel?” I asked.

“I don’t know. Numb I guess. Defeated. Hopeless.”

“You’re not defeated. You’re released. Are you still feeling angry at your mother?”

“No.”

“So everything’s changed.”

“I guess so,” she admitted.

I looked over at the clock. It was 9:45 pm. I took a few more questions and ended the seminar a little after 10 p.m.

I was departing the next day. On the way to the airport I received a call from her.  “You’ll never guess what happened last night,” she said. “When I got home there was a message on my answering machine from my mother. She’s moving out of the house! The time stamp on the message was 9:45pm.”

“The exact time you let go.”

“Yeah,” she said. “That was the most amazing part.”

“When you let go of your resistance you stop blocking yourself and the situation can move toward harmony and resolution. Anger is a form of resistance. If you don’t let go of your resistance, the situation will escalate and worsen. When there’s nothing more to be done, let go. Drop your demands. Dump your negative emotions. Then harmony will be able to prevail. Good luck with school.”

“Thanks for the most amazing week of my life. The energy healing changed everything.”

“You’re welcome. Now go be a great doctor.”

Physician Heal Thyself!

Some time ago I conducted an Energy Healing Workshop at Michigan State University. The workshop was sold out, with people in attendance from many walks of life. One of those participants was a young woman in medical school. She was there because she had an acute pain in her colon that had persisted for many months. She had been to see conventional doctors. She had pursued  every alternative therapy she could find. Nothing had worked. This workshop, she said, was her last hope.

I had her lay on a table with the first group of participants to be worked on. There were many tables filling the large room with three to four people per table working on the person now laying on the table. Every hour we’d rotate and a new person would lay on the table while the person who had just been worked on joined the group working on the new person.

This young woman was very attractive but considerably overweight. I showed the people in her group where to put their hands on her body to facilitate the release of her repressed trauma. I had one person put a hand on top of her liver, the other under her liver. I had another person put their hands on the soles of her feet and the third person put one hand on her forehead and the other under the back of her head. I told them it wouldn’t take long for her to “pop.” I’d be back as soon as she did.

Sure enough, her repressed trauma popped up quickly.Within minutes, she curled on her side and started sobbing. I came over and led her through the trauma. She was an infant of nine months laying in her crib. Her father came over and stood above her. At this point, she tried to turn away from the experience, forget it, and go unconscious. Her fear was palpable to all of us. Her whole body shook with terror. I told her not to run away. That it was time to face what happened long ago in her life. She was safe. It was a different time and her father was nowhere in sight. Now was the time to face her ghost and free herself from its hold over her. With that guidance, a huge scream ripped out of her. It was followed by deep sobs of pain and agony. She kicked and pounded the table with her fists. Her legs and arms vibrated and shook uncontrollably. Her clothes were soaking wet as if she’d been caught in a rainstorm. Time passed. Eventually the tempest stopped, the tears ended and she became peaceful, silent, still.

When she came around and opened her eyes I asked her what she had experienced. She confided that her father had sexually abused her.

I asked her how her colon was feeling. A surprised look came on her face as she focussed on her body. “It’s gone!” she said. “The pain’s gone!”

It never came back.

The workshop was held on a Saturday. The next Tuesday I ran into her at a food coop in East Lansing. She was in the back of the store when I entered. Seconds after I entered she came running up the aisle toward me, a big smile on her face.

“I felt your energy as soon as you walked in,” she said excitedly. “I can’t believe what’s happened to me since the workshop! I’ve lost twelve pounds without trying. I haven’t changed my diet at all.”

“That’s because you released what happened to you when you where 9 months old. You no longer need all that baby fat. It’s melting away.”

“I can’t thank you enough,” she said. “You’ve changed my life.”

She gave me a big hug and went back to shopping. I would see her one more time.

(To be continued.)

Unfinished Grief

Some years ago a woman came to see me when I was working on clients in E. Lansing, MI. I remember her as a kind and sensitive woman. She was walking slowly, somewhat stooped, her face knitted in pain. I asked her what brought her in to see me. She replied that her lower back had been bothering her for a long time and she hoped that I could bring her some relief.

“That’s not why you’re here,” I said. Shocked, her eyes opened wide while she stared at me in disbelief.

“What are you saying?” she said.

“You’re here for your mother. You never grieved when she died, did you?”

“No,” she admitted. “I didn’t. I was busy taking care of everyone else. What’s that got to do with my back?”

“Let’s find out. Why don’t you lay down on the table and we’ll get started. Your mother is here with us, by the way.”

She lay down on the table. I put one hand under the base of her skull, the other under the base of her spine. The energy started flowing into her immediately. It was a gentle, comforting, loving, feminine energy. The woman started crying softly as soon as that energy entered her body.

“This energy is coming from your mother,” I told her. “She’s here to help you through your grief.”

With those words the woman’s tears turned to sobs. Her body shook as the heavy grieving began. An hour later it was done. She was peaceful now, her body completely relaxed.

When she got up she had another surprise. She took a few steps, a strange, questioning look on her face. She bent over, moved side to side, testing her back. All her discomfort and pain had disappeared. She walked out of the treatment room, standing straight, shoulders back, smiling broadly, her face lit up, pain and grief free.

I never saw her again. I didn’t need to.
